How to Update ConfigMgr 2007 SP1 to ConfigMgr 2007 R2

To update your ConfigMgr 2007 R2 it must be installed on an existing ConfigMgr 2007 SP1.

To determine which version of ConfigMgr 2007 is installed, from the:

 ConfigMgr Console > Site Database > Site Management > right click on your site > properties

You will see the version number and R2 installed or not

The RTM (Release to Manufacturing) version. SP1 is 4.00.6221.1000

 

 Run the splash.hta from DVD once it starts click on configuration Manager 2007 R2

 

 In the welcome message wizard you will see the new features will be installed during setup click Next

 

 Accept licenses agreement and click Next

 

 Registration information click Next

 

 To start installation click Next

 

 Installation in progress

 

 Then click Finish to complete wizard installation

 

 Now go back to ConfigMgr Console > Site Database > Site Management > right click on your site > properties

 

 You will see the R2 installed changed to Yes

Hi Mazen,

We try to upgrade SCCM 2007 SP1 RMT to R2. We are getting the following error message.

Setup Was unable to create collection(s). Verify that your account has create rights on the Collection class. 0x800706BE

You mean RTM! There should be a log file on the root drive of the server with the name configmgrsetup.log, Can you check the last lines for me please?

Besides are you using the an accout with 'Full' admionistrative priviliges on the server?
